Sound Delay
★Exhibit Content: Sound Propagation ★Interaction: Mechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Speak short sentences into the microphone with your mouth, and place your ear against the earpiece; 2. Listen to the sound from the earpiece and feel the delay phenomenon of sound. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit mainly consists of a sound transmission pipe, microphone, earpiece, etc. By allowing visitors to listen to their own delayed voice, it guides them to understand how sound propagates. After the visitor makes a sound, they listen as the sound travels through the spiral sound transmission pipe to the other blocked end, experiencing the delay phenomenon of sound transmission through a medium. ★Scientific Principle: Sound propagation requires a medium. Sound travels at different speeds in solids, gases, and liquids, with the fastest in solids, followed by liquids, and finally gases. When a visitor speaks into the microphone, sound waves travel along the inner wall of the spiral sound transmission pipe. Due to the design of the pipe's length and shape, the sound waves undergo multiple reflections and path lengthening inside the pipe, increasing the transmission time. After the sound waves finally reach the closed end of the pipe, they reflect and travel back along the pipe to the earpiece, at which point the visitor can hear their own delayed voice.
