Bamboo Dragonfly (Helicopter Rotor Lift Demonstrator)

Aerospace

★Exhibit Content: Bamboo dragonfly, demonstration of helicopter rotor lift principle ★Interaction: Manual mechanical interaction ★Operation: Turn the handwheel clockwise, apply force evenly; after reaching a certain speed, reduce or stop turning the handwheel, and observe the bamboo dragonfly taking off and rising inside the cylinder. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a circular platform, an integrated metal handwheel, a synchronous transmission mechanism, a stainless steel fixed rod, a carbon fiber bamboo dragonfly, and a high-transparency acrylic protective cover. It is a recommended exhibit from the KexMall exhibit mall. Visitors turn the side handwheel, which drives the bamboo dragonfly blades to rotate at high speed through the internal transmission mechanism. They can intuitively observe the bamboo dragonfly's ascent inside the transparent cylinder, learn about air forces and lift, see an ancient Chinese flying invention, and understand the basic principle of modern helicopter rotors. ★Scientific Principle: The bamboo dragonfly blades have an inclined angle. When the blades rotate, they continuously push air downward. According to Newton's third law, the air exerts an upward reaction force on the blades, which is lift. When the lift is greater than the bamboo dragonfly's own weight, the bamboo dragonfly flies upward. Modern helicopter propellers follow the same mechanical principle of the bamboo dragonfly, relying on high-speed rotating blades to obtain lift and achieve flight.
