Helicopter Principle
★Exhibit Content: Helicopter principle, action and reaction forces ★Interaction: Mechanical interaction ★Operation: Turn the handwheel to drive the helicopter rotor to rotate, and observe the movement of the helicopter. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit mainly consists of operating handwheels, transmission mechanism, helicopter models, protective cover, display stand, etc. It is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The display stand surface is equipped with two sets of operating handwheels, and inside the protective cover are installed a linkage transmission mechanism and two sets of helicopter models. When visitors turn the handwheels, the transmission mechanism drives the rotors to rotate. The faster the handwheels turn, the higher the rotor speed and the greater the lift generated. When the handwheel rotation reaches a certain speed, the helicopter rises vertically under the lift, intuitively demonstrating the mechanical principle of helicopter takeoff, and allowing comparative observation of the synchronous movement of the two models. ★Scientific Principle: Newton's third law states that the action and reaction forces between two objects are always equal in magnitude, opposite in direction, and act along the same straight line. According to Newton's third law: forces act mutually. The rotor blades stir the air downward, and the air also gives the blades an upward reaction force. This reaction force is lift. When the lift is greater than the helicopter's own weight, the helicopter flies into the air. Visitors can adjust the speed by hand and personally feel the relationship between lift magnitude and rotor rotation.
