Feel and See
★Exhibit Content: Tactile perception, popular science of animal body surface characteristics ★Interaction: Manual interaction ★Operation: Put your hand into the hole of the box; touch the animal model inside to feel the surface texture; guess the corresponding animal species. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of 5 independent colorful vertical display boxes, animal simulation models, and inductive air jet devices. It is a recommended exhibit of the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. Each vertical box has a round hole on the front for reaching in, and inside each box are simulation models of a snake, turtle, rabbit, pangolin, and fish. Visitors put their hands into the holes, feel the texture of different animal body surfaces by touch alone, guess the animal species based on the touch, and trigger the air jet device to increase interactive fun. In the game, they observe and distinguish the skin characteristics of various animals, exercising tactile perception ability. ★Scientific Principle: Touch is the earliest and most basic sense in human development, and an important way for humans to obtain external information. Tactile stimulation can promote children's brain cognitive development. The animals selected in the exhibit belong to different categories: rabbits are mammals with fur on their body surface; pangolins are also mammals but their body surface is covered with keratin scales; turtles and snakes are reptiles with keratin scales or hard shells; fish have scales on their body surface. Through touch, one can intuitively feel the differences in body surface structures of different species and learn the basics of animal classification.
