Mirror Clone
★Exhibit Content: Optical science popularization of multiple reflection imaging with plane mirrors ★Interaction: Model observation and interaction ★Operation: Stand in front of the curved mirror wall, move your body, and observe the changes in multiple clone images within the mirrors. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a curved display wall, multiple vertical plane mirrors, and reinforced support columns on both sides. It is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The exhibit combines eighteen high-definition plane mirrors in an orderly manner to form an overall curved mirror wall, with a stable structure and clear imaging without distortion. Visitors can freely stand in front of the mirror wall and, by moving their position and changing body postures, allow light to form continuous back-and-forth reflections among multiple mirror groups, continuously generating superimposed repeated human images, creating a layered clone visual effect. Visitors can intuitively observe the changing patterns of light reflection in an immersive and fun interaction, and easily understand the core optical characteristics of plane mirror imaging. ★Scientific Principle: The core principle of plane mirror imaging is specular reflection of light. When natural light reflected from the human body hits the mirror surface, regular reflected light rays are formed. The backward extensions of the reflected rays intersect to form a three-dimensional virtual image. The image formed by a conventional plane mirror is an upright, same-sized, left-right reversed virtual image, and the distances from the object and the image to the mirror are exactly equal. This exhibit uses multiple plane mirrors arranged in an arc to form multiple reflection light paths. Light reflects and superimposes repeatedly between the mirror surfaces, continuously generating new virtual images, ultimately forming numerous and richly layered clone images, fully and intuitively demonstrating the physical laws of multiple light reflections and imaging principles.
