Colored Shadows
★Exhibit Content: Rectilinear propagation of light and additive mixing of the three primary colors of light ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: Stand in front of the screen wall, move your body left and right or wave your arms; observe the shadows of different colors on the screen wall. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a background wall, a circular projection screen, a top-mounted RGB three-color lighting device, and a power supply control system. It is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. Three independent light sources in red, green, and blue are suspended at the top of the exhibit. The three colors are projected simultaneously onto the circular screen, overlapping and mixing to form bright white light. When visitors enter the experience area and move their bodies or change postures, their bodies block the colored light from different directions. Multiple shadows of various colors then appear on the screen. The number and colors of the shadows change in real time with the visitor's position, allowing visitors to intuitively experience the fascinating optical phenomenon through hands-on interaction. ★Scientific Principle: Light travels in straight lines in the same uniform medium. When it encounters an opaque object such as a human body, the light is blocked, forming a shadow outline. Red, green, and blue are the three primary colors of light. When all three colors are fully superimposed, they combine to form white light. When the human body blocks one or two of the colored lights, the remaining unblocked colored light continues to project onto the screen and recombines according to the additive rules of the three primary colors, ultimately producing multiple colored shadows. This exhibit visualizes abstract optical knowledge, helping visitors understand the characteristics of light propagation and recognize the basic optical principles of color light mixing.
