The wheel and axle is a simple machine of the lever type, where the wheel and axle can rotate around the same axis. ★Scientific Principle: The wheel and axle is a deformed lever, the axis center is equivalent to the fulcrum of the lever, and the radius of the disc is the force arm. According to the lever principle, power multiplied by the power arm equals resistance multiplied by the resistance arm. If the power arm is several times the resistance arm, then the power is a fraction of the resistance. The radius of the large disc is larger than that of the small disc, so only a relatively small force is needed to achieve twice the result with half the effort.
