Air Drum
★Exhibit Content: Air pressure and object resonance phenomena ★Interaction: Mechanical interaction ★Operation: View the graphics and text to understand the interactive method of the exhibit. Adjust the air cannon, aim at the sequins, strike the drum surface forcefully, and observe the changes in the sequins. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit features two air cannons of different sizes. Visitors strike the drum surface to generate a flowing wind. The flowing wind can blow the sequins suspended above, making them move. Participants can compare the airflow intensity produced by air cannons of different diameters. Adjust the direction of the air cannon and strike the drum surface to compare the resulting wind direction. ★Scientific Principle: The barrel of the air cannon has only a small hole at the launch end, and the rest is tightly sealed. When the drumhead is struck, the space inside the barrel instantly decreases, and the air inside is compressed, forming an accelerated airflow. The high-speed airflow rapidly ejects from the small hole, while the airflow around the small hole is originally slower, so the high-speed airflow rolls back to form an 'air ring'. When the barrel is aimed at the sequins, the high-speed ejected 'air ring' makes the sequins flutter.
