Dancing Ball (Bernoulli Floating Ball)

Children's Playground

★Exhibit Content: Bernoulli's Principle ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the start button; 2. Place the ball at the center of the air outlet of the tube, slowly release your hand, and observe the levitation phenomenon. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit features three round tubes, with a blower inside the base that blows air outward through the tubes. The air blows vertically upward. Carefully place the ball at the center of the air outlet of the tube, slowly release your hand, and the ball will hover at the air outlet. By observing the circular motion of the ball driven by the airflow, you can experience the relationship between flow velocity and pressure in fluids. ★Scientific Principle: Bernoulli's theorem was discovered in 1738 by Daniel Bernoulli, known as the "father of fluid mechanics." According to Bernoulli's theorem, the vertical airflow creates pressure inside the tube, and the ball levitates in the air under Bernoulli's effect. When the ball is placed above the air outlet, the airflow lifts it upward, keeping it suspended in the air. This is because the airflow velocity is high; according to Bernoulli's principle, the pressure at the center of the airflow is lower, while the pressure of the surrounding air is higher. The surrounding air converges toward the center of the airflow, creating an upward lifting force that keeps the ball suspended.
