Color-Blindness Experience
★Exhibit Content: Color blindness/color vision deficiency visual simulation, eye health education, color vision cognition experience ★Interaction: Mechanical interaction ★Operation: Manually rotate the dial to switch between different color blindness simulation lenses, observe the color changes of the pencil pattern, and intuitively feel the difference between the pencil colors seen by different types of color blindness (protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, achromatopsia) and normal vision. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a circular dial, multiple sets of color blindness simulation filter lenses, and a colored pencil pattern display area. It is a recommended exhibit for the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. By rotating the dial, participants align different types of color blindness simulation lenses with the observation area, allowing them to personally experience the color world seen by people with different types of color blindness, directly compare the visual differences between normal vision and various types of color blindness, deeply understand the inconvenience caused by color vision deficiency in daily life, and enhance empathy for the color blind community and awareness of eye protection. ★Scientific Principle: Congenital color vision deficiency is commonly known as color blindness, which is the inability to distinguish various colors or a certain color in the natural spectrum; poor color discrimination ability is called color weakness. Although people with color weakness can see the colors that normal people see, their ability to recognize colors is slow or very poor. In dim light, some may be almost the same as color blind, or show color vision fatigue, and the boundary between it and color blindness is generally not easy to strictly distinguish. Color blindness and color weakness are mostly congenital, with male patients far more than female patients. This exhibit uses professional filter lenses to accurately simulate the color vision characteristics of different types of color blindness, allowing healthy people to immersively experience the visual world of color blind patients and understand the scientific nature of color vision deficiency.
