Bottomless Pit
★Exhibit Content: Plane Mirror Imaging ★Interaction: Scene Interaction ★Operation: Step onto the platform and experience a bottomless abyss. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a half-mirror, a mirror, a rock model placed between them, lighting devices, and a platform. When participants pass over the platform surface and look down, they will see a 'bottomless abyss' scene. Recommended exhibit for PopsciCat Exhibit Store. ★Scientific Principle: Why do we see a bottomless abyss? Above the platform is a half-mirror, and below is a mirror. Light from the lamps is reflected by the mirror; part of it passes through the half-mirror and is seen, while another part is reflected again by the half-mirror to the mirror below. After multiple reflections, numerous images of objects are formed, repeating infinitely, each farther than the last, like a bottomless abyss. Mirrors are widely used in daily life; household dressing mirrors, car rearview mirrors, etc., are all plane mirrors.
