Iron-Particle Dance (Iron-Art)

Electromagnetism

★Exhibit Content: Static Electricity ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Select different music buttons and watch the iron particles "dance". ★Exhibit Description: This exhibit mainly consists of iron powder, coils, and speakers, demonstrating the characteristics of electromagnets and magnetic field lines. Magnetic field lines, also known as magnetic induction lines or magnetic lines of force, are a set of imaginary directed curves used to intuitively illustrate the distribution of a magnetic field. Where magnetic field lines are dense, the magnetic field is stronger; where they are sparse, the magnetic field is weaker. In this exhibit, beneath each of the 64 iron powder placement points is a coil. When the power is turned on, the coils become electromagnets. Under the influence of the magnetic field, the iron powder becomes magnetized and is subjected to magnetic forces, arranging itself in a certain pattern. ★Scientific Principle: Beneath the stage is a matrix of electromagnets, and the current in the electromagnets is controlled by a program. When the visitor presses the button, the iron particles become small magnets in the magnetic field generated by the electromagnets, forming spike-like shapes. The magnitude and direction of the current in the electromagnet coils change with the music, and the generated magnetic field also changes accordingly. The iron particles then exhibit different states of motion under the dynamically changing magnetic field, dancing to the rhythm of the music.
