Planetary Scale
★Exhibit Content: Popular science on gravity differences among different planets ★Interaction: Interactive experiential science exhibit ★Operation: Visitors stand on the load-bearing area above the platform, and the 8 digital displays will show their weight on 8 planets. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a platform, a sensing floor scale, and digital display components. When a visitor stands on the load-bearing area, the system simultaneously displays their weight on different planets such as Earth, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. This is because the device converts and displays the visitor's weight on each planet based on the respective gravitational acceleration (e.g., Jupiter 2.528g, Mars 0.38g), allowing the audience to intuitively experience the gravity differences among different celestial bodies. ★Scientific Principle: This exhibit is based on the differences in universal gravitation and gravitational acceleration: The weight of an object is determined by the gravitational acceleration of the planet it is on; the greater the gravitational acceleration, the greater the weight of the same object; Different planets have different masses and radii, resulting in significant differences in gravitational acceleration: Jupiter has the largest mass, with a gravitational acceleration about 2.528 times that of Earth; Mercury and Mars have gravitational accelerations only 0.38 times that of Earth; Through the floor scale and software conversion, the exhibit transforms abstract gravity differences into perceivable weight values, helping the audience understand the relationship between universal gravitation and celestial body mass.
