Carbon Cycle
★Exhibit Content: A science popularization experience on the Earth's carbon cycle process and ecosystem interactions ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Rotate the interactive mechanism to control the ball to reach different positions in the carbon cycle; 2. Observe the graphics and text displayed by the dynamic light box behind to understand the carbon cycle stage at that position; 3. Follow the ball's path to fully understand the entire carbon cycle process. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit adopts a wall-mounted interactive form, consisting of transparent tubes, an interactive control mechanism, a ball component, a dynamic light box, and a graphic background board. Visitors control the ball along the tubes to reach different nodes of the carbon cycle, activating the corresponding dynamic light box, and intuitively understand the carbon cycle pathways among the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and hydrosphere, and comprehend the interconnections and interactions among the various parts of the Earth's ecosystem. ★Scientific Principle: The Earth's four major systems (lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere) each have their own characteristics and interact with each other. Carbon elements continuously cycle through these systems: CO₂ in the atmosphere is absorbed by plants through photosynthesis, passed to animals through the food chain, and the remains of plants and animals are decomposed by microorganisms or deposited to form fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels, respiration of organisms, and other processes release carbon back into the atmosphere in the form of CO₂, forming a complete carbon cycle and maintaining the material balance of the Earth's ecosystem.
