Power-Generation Contest

Earth & Home

★Exhibit Content: Electromagnetic Induction ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Exercise on the stepper, bicycle, and treadmill respectively; 2. Observe the brightness changes of the LED lighting column in front and experience the power generation effects of different exercise modes. ★Exhibit Description: "Power Generation Competition" is an interactive exhibit for physics and energy science popularization, designed specifically for the energy science exhibition area, and is also a recommended exhibit of PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The exhibit consists of a stepper, a bicycle, and a treadmill, demonstrating knowledge related to the piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic induction principles. When visitors perform exercises such as stepping, pedaling, and running on the exhibit, the LED lighting column in front lights up. The faster the movement, the greater the power generation, and the higher the brightness of the lighting column. Visitors can intuitively compare the power generation efficiency of different exercise modes and experience the process of converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. ★Scientific Principle: A DC generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into DC electrical energy, utilizing the principle of electromagnetic induction. The coil is connected to the brushes through two semicircular slip rings, and then through wires and a light bulb to form a closed circuit; when the coil rotates, it cuts the magnetic lines of force, thereby generating an induced electromotive force in the circuit, and the lighting column lights up. The faster the person moves, the faster the coil rotates, the more times the conductive coil cuts the magnetic lines of force per unit time, the more electrical energy is generated, and the brighter the lighting column becomes. The piezoelectric effect and electromagnetic induction principles are widely used, such as in transducers, piezoelectric actuators, and piezoelectric sensors that utilize the piezoelectric effect, and AC generators, induction motors, and transformers that utilize the electromagnetic induction principle.
