Focused Light Generates Heat
★Exhibit Content: Popular science experience of light energy conversion to heat energy and the principle of concave mirror focusing and reflection ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: Press the "Start" button to light up the light source; move your palm up and down at the center of the concave mirror to feel the temperature of light at different positions; place your palm at the "optimal experience height" above the center of the concave mirror to feel the temperature of light. Do not place your palm at the optimal experience height for a long time to avoid burns. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a vertical curved tube lamp holder, a simulated sunlight source, a bottom circular display stand, a concave focusing reflector, control buttons, and a 5mm thick acrylic UV-printed instruction sign. It is a recommended exhibit of KexMall. Visitors press the start button to light up the simulated light source above, and the light projects downward onto the surface of the concave mirror at the bottom. The concave mirror reflects and converges the light, forming a high-temperature focal point in space. Visitors move their palms up and down around the focal point to intuitively experience the temperature difference at different positions. At the focal point, the warming effect brought by focusing can be clearly felt. Through somatosensory experience, the exhibit intuitively demonstrates the focusing principle of concave mirrors and explains the physics of converting light energy into heat energy. ★Scientific Principle: The exhibit utilizes the principle of reflection and energy convergence of light by a concave mirror. A concave mirror is like a light storage box, which can reflect and converge incident light to the focal point, making light energy highly concentrated. Based on the thermal effect of infrared light, energy gathers in the focal area, and the temperature rises significantly. In reality, solar thermal power generation equipment uses this principle to collect solar radiation energy and convert light energy into heat energy for utilization.
