Power-to-Gas Technology

Earth & Home

★Exhibit Content: Principles of power-to-gas technology, conversion of electrical energy into gas fuel, and its storage and utilization process ★Interaction: Multimedia + electromechanical interaction with sandbox model ★Operation: Tap the touchscreen display; watch the LED strips on the sandbox model and the multimedia animation demonstrate the complete 'power-to-gas' process. ★Exhibit Description: The power-to-gas technology exhibit is a multimedia sandbox science popularization exhibit in the Energy and Environment exhibition area, and is a recommended exhibit from the KexMall exhibit mall. The exhibit mainly consists of a display cabinet, a 27-inch touchscreen all-in-one display, a power-to-gas system sandbox model, an acrylic protective cover, LED scene light strips, and a multimedia host. The sandbox recreates scenes such as a wind power plant, power-to-gas plant, and residential urban area. Visitors operate the touchscreen to start the demonstration process; the LED light strips inside the sandbox light up synchronously, and together with the on-screen animation, fully demonstrate the entire power-to-gas process. It intuitively shows wind power as the input energy, converted into gas fuel, and then stored, transported, and used. It transforms the engineering principles of new energy storage technology into a visual interactive science popularization experience. ★Scientific Principle: Power-to-gas technology is a new energy storage technology that converts electrical energy into gas fuel, mainly divided into power-to-hydrogen and power-to-methane. First, electrolysis of water is used to convert electrical energy into hydrogen, and then hydrogen is combined with carbon dioxide to produce methane, achieving the conversion of electrical energy into gas that can be stored for long periods. This technology can convert surplus renewable electricity from the grid into gas, feed it into the natural gas pipeline network, and achieve large-scale, long-duration energy storage, effectively solving the practical challenge of renewable energy consumption.
