Three States of Water

Earth & Home

★Exhibit Content: The three states of water—solid, liquid, and gas—and the conditions for their mutual transformation ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: Rotate the magnifying glass to observe ice-making simulation of solid water; press the button to trigger the device to form a water vortex and observe liquid water; press the operating component to create smoke rings and observe gaseous water. ★Exhibit Description: Earth's Water (The Three States of Water) is an arc-shaped multi-station science popularization exhibit under the theme of water science, and is a recommended exhibit of the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The exhibit adopts a triple arc integrated platform, divided into three independent interactive display stations for solid, liquid, and gas states. Each station is equipped with corresponding electromechanical actuators, observation windows, and operating components. Visitors can perform corresponding operations at different stations, sequentially observe the intuitive phenomena of ice, liquid water, and water vapor simulated smoke rings, and through hands-on operation experience the external characteristics corresponding to the three states of water, transforming abstract knowledge of state changes into visible physical interactive phenomena, helping visitors understand the appearance characteristics of water in different forms and establish a perceptual cognition of state transformation. ★Scientific Principle: Water exists in three states: solid, liquid, and gas. Solid water, i.e., ice, has a fixed shape and volume; liquid water can flow and deform, and can only be slightly compressed; gaseous water is water vapor, which is a fluid, can flow and deform, and is compressible. The three states can transform into each other depending on temperature conditions. The exhibit reproduces the typical phenomena of the three states through electromechanical simulation, intuitively demonstrating the external manifestations of state changes, allowing visitors to understand that temperature change is the core condition driving the state transformation of water.
