Electric Motor Principle
★Exhibit Content: Principle of Electric Motor ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Press the start button, turn the handle to bring the magnet close to the motor coil, and observe the motor's status. ★Detailed Description: The core of this exhibit is a finely dissected teaching demonstration model of an electric motor. When visitors press the start button and simultaneously turn the side handle, they can gradually move a strong magnet closer to the exposed coil part of the motor. Once the magnet enters the effective range, its magnetic field interacts with the coil, driving the motor's rotor to start rotating, and the entire device then enters a stable operating state. Conversely, if visitors turn the handle in the opposite direction to move the magnet away from the motor coil area, as the external magnetic field weakens and disappears, the driving force on the motor rotor rapidly decays, and the running motor model gradually slows down and eventually stops completely. ★Scientific Principle: An electric motor is an important power device that efficiently converts input electrical energy into mechanical energy output, and its basic working principle is based on electromagnetic induction and the interaction of electromagnetic forces. Specifically, when the stator part of the motor (i.e., the coil winding wound around the iron core) is supplied with DC or AC current, according to the magnetic effect of current, a magnetic field with strength and direction varying with the current is generated around the stator. This rotating or alternating magnetic field established by the stator cuts at high speed through the closed conductive loop on the rotor (such as squirrel-cage bars or windings). According to the law of electromagnetic induction, an electromotive force is induced in the rotor conductors cut by the magnetic field, thereby forming an induced current in the closed loop. When this induced current flows through the rotor conductors, it in turn excites a secondary magnetic field that interacts with the stator magnetic field (usually repelling), a process known in electromagnetics as mutual induction.
