Series and Parallel
★Exhibit Content: Characteristics of series circuits and parallel circuits ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the start button. In the series group, press the red and green buttons to open or close the circuit and observe the changes in the light bulbs; 2. In the parallel group, press the start button, then press the red and green buttons to open or close the circuit and observe the changes in the light bulbs. ★Exhibit Description: This exhibit is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. It consists of a circular integrated operation console, multiple light bulb modules, transparent protective covers, function control buttons, an instruction sign, and an electrical control box. The tabletop is divided into two experimental units: series and parallel. Each group of light bulbs is equipped with a transparent protective cover to protect the experimental bulbs. Visitors operate the buttons to open and close the circuits, intuitively compare the working differences between series and parallel circuits, understand the open-circuit and closed-circuit characteristics of these two basic circuits, and recognize the practical applications of series and parallel circuits in daily life. ★Scientific Principle: A series circuit has only one current path. If an open circuit occurs anywhere in the circuit, the entire circuit is disconnected. A parallel circuit has multiple current paths, and the branches are independent of each other. Opening or closing a single branch will not affect the other branches. If a component short circuit occurs, it will cause a short circuit of the power supply.

★Exhibit Content: Voltage and current laws of series circuits and parallel circuits ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Place resistors into different circuits respectively; 2. Close the switch and observe the readings of the ammeter and voltmeter as well as the changes in light bulb brightness. ★Exhibit Description: This exhibit is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. It is a desk-type operation console with two sets of experimental circuits, series and parallel, pre-installed on the tabletop, equipped with pointer-type ammeters, voltmeters, terminal blocks, replaceable resistor modules, and control switches. Visitors manually plug in resistors to build experimental circuits. After closing the switch, they read the instrument data and observe the changes in light bulb brightness, intuitively comparing the operating differences between the two circuits. They independently explore the basic electrical laws of circuits, transforming abstract electrical formulas into visible experimental phenomena, which facilitates understanding of the practical application of circuit structures in daily life. ★Scientific Principle: The total voltage of a series circuit is equal to the sum of the voltages across each electrical appliance; the voltages across the branches of a parallel circuit are equal. A series circuit has only one current path. If an open circuit occurs anywhere, the entire circuit immediately stops working. A parallel circuit has multiple independent branches, and the branches do not interfere with each other. Opening a single branch will not affect the normal operation of the other branches. Under the same power supply voltage, the brightness of light bulbs connected in parallel is higher than that of light bulbs connected in series. Visitors can intuitively verify the theoretical knowledge of voltage and current in series and parallel circuits through instrument readings and changes in light bulb brightness.
