Skeleton Bicycle

Life & Health

★Exhibit Content: Human Skeleton ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Sit on the bicycle; 2. Pedal the pedals and observe the skeletal movement changes. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of two synchronously moving bicycles, a dark box, and a set of human skeleton models. Inside the dark box, there is a bicycle with a human skeleton model seated on it, in a posture as if a person is riding. The bicycle inside the dark box and the one outside are mechanically linked to achieve synchronous movement. The dark box is separated from the outside by a semi-transparent mirror. When visitors ride the bicycle outside the dark box, the light inside the dark box slowly illuminates, and participants will see a complete, faintly visible skeleton also riding inside the dark box, as if seeing their own skeleton moving in a mirror. ★Scientific Principle: Skeletalization is the foundation for the complexity of biological structures, and the skeletal system is a limiting factor in the morphological evolution of organisms. Bones are hard organs that make up vertebrates, with functions of movement, support, and protection of the body; production of red and white blood cells; and storage of minerals. Bones are composed of various shapes with complex internal and external structures, allowing them to remain hard while reducing weight. One component of bone is mineralized bone tissue, which has a hard, honeycomb-like three-dimensional structure inside; other tissues include bone marrow, periosteum, nerves, blood vessels, and cartilage. The human skeleton supports the body and is part of the human locomotor system. Adults have 206 bones. Bones are generally connected by joints and ligaments. Except for the 6 auditory ossicles, which belong to sensory organs, by location, they can be divided into 23 skull bones, 51 trunk bones, and 126 limb bones.
