Sense Organs

Life & Health

★Exhibit Content: Popular science on the structure and function of the four major sensory organs: eyes, ears, nose, and mouth ★Interaction: Models + multimedia viewing ★Operation: Visitors observe high-fidelity anatomical models of the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth while watching multimedia introductions on corresponding displays to gain an in-depth understanding of the internal structure and working principles of each organ. ★Exhibit Overview: The exhibit consists of organ models of the ear, eye, oral cavity, and nose, along with displays, allowing visitors to learn about the structure and functions of each organ. By combining models with multimedia audio-visual content, visitors can deepen their understanding of their own body organs. ★Scientific Principle: The human body is a precise and complex life system, and sensory organs serve as the "gateways" and "sensors" for information exchange between the body and the external environment. The five major sensory systems—vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—enable us to perceive color, sound, odor, flavor, and texture, constructing a complete cognition of the world. This exhibit, through the combination of high-precision organ models and multimedia interactive displays, leads visitors to deeply explore the exquisite structures and amazing functions of the human body's major sensory organs, embarking on a journey of human science to understand oneself and explore the mysteries of life. Unit 1: Eyes—The Window to Vision Displaying the most precise photosensitive organ of humans. The transparent eyeball anatomical model clearly presents structures such as the cornea, iris, lens, vitreous body, and retina. Accompanied by animations on the display explaining the principles of visual formation, it illustrates how light passes through the refractive system to form images on the retina and is transmitted by the optic nerve to the brain's visual center. Visitors can observe the causes of common vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism through the model. Unit 2: Ears—The Door to Hearing Displaying the complete structures of the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. The model highlights key components such as the eardrum, auditory ossicles (malleus, incus, stapes), and cochlea. With multimedia demonstrations, it shows the sound wave conduction pathway: from the collection of sound waves by the external auditory canal, through eardrum vibration and amplification by the ossicles, to the final conversion into neural electrical signals in the cochlea. The semicircular canals are specially displayed to explain the mechanism of balance perception. Unit 3: Nose—The Tower of Smell Displaying the internal structure of the nasal cavity and the working principles of olfaction. The model presents structures such as the nasal conchae, nasal septum, and olfactory mucosa. With video introductions, it explains how olfactory cells convert odor molecules into neural signals and the fascinating connections between smell, taste, and memory. It also demonstrates the protective functions of the nasal cavity, including filtration by nasal hairs, moistening by mucus, and warming by mucosa. Unit 4: Oral Cavity—The Palace of Taste Displaying structures such as the tongue, teeth, and salivary glands. The model focuses on the distribution of taste buds and the structure of lingual papillae, explaining the perception mechanisms of the five basic tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and umami, as well as the important roles of saliva in digestion and immunity. It also displays the cross-sectional structure of teeth to promote oral health knowledge.
