Formation of a Fertilized Egg

Life & Health

★Exhibit Content: Popular science on the combination of human reproductive cells and the formation of a fertilized egg ★Interaction: Two-person cycling race + projected animation interactive device ★Operation: Two visitors each pedal a bicycle, and the pedaling speed controls the swimming speed of the sperm model on the screen, simulating the swimming and competition of sperm within the fallopian tube. The first to arrive and combine with the egg completes the fertilization demonstration. ★Exhibit Overview: This exhibit uses an interactive game mode to demonstrate the fertilization process of sperm racing and combining with an egg. By combining two-person competitive cycling with dynamic projection, it makes the microscopic and abstract fertilization process intuitive and gamified. During participation, visitors can clearly see the competition, swimming, and combination of sperm, understand the initial stage of life's creation, establish a scientific understanding of life, and feel the uniqueness and preciousness of life's formation. ★Scientific Principle: Fertilization refers to the process in which male reproductive cells (sperm) and female reproductive cells (egg cells) meet and fuse within the fallopian tube to form a fertilized egg, marking the beginning of an individual life in sexually reproducing organisms. A large number of sperm swim forward by beating their tails. Only a very few sperm with the strongest vitality and fastest speed can reach near the egg, and ultimately only one sperm can combine with the egg cell to complete fertilization. After the sperm combines with the egg cell, the chromosome number is restored to the complete number of somatic cells, forming a fertilized egg with entirely new genetic material, marking the beginning of a new life, which will subsequently divide, differentiate, and gradually develop into an embryo.
