Visible Mathematics
★Exhibit Content: Geometry Mathematics ★Interaction: Model Interaction ★Operation: Visitors press the button, and the corresponding model starts to operate. ★Exhibit Description: The display case contains nine mathematical models: parabola, conic sections, orthogonal cross grinder, regular polyhedra, solids of revolution, circular-to-linear motion linkage device, sand pendulum, minimal surface model, and probability curve. The models are dynamic demonstrations with lighting effects, and the exhibits are arranged in a staggered manner. An explanation board introduces the principles, allowing visitors to view common mathematical phenomena models in daily life interactively and understand the scientific principles behind them. ★Scientific Principle: Mathematics is a universal means for humans to rigorously describe and deduce the abstract structures and patterns of things. It can be applied to any problem in the real world. All mathematical objects are essentially human-defined. In this sense, mathematics belongs to formal science, not natural science. Different mathematicians and philosophers have various views on the exact scope and definition of mathematics. The exhibit displays various vivid and wonderful mathematical models in a display case, combined with lighting effects, making mathematics no longer abstract formulas and symbols but more intuitive and visible. It also allows visitors to experience the creative spirit of scientists in making the invisible visible.
