Platonic Solids
★Exhibit Content: Geometric principles of regular polyhedra (Platonic solids) ★Interaction: Model demonstration + assembly interaction ★Operation: 1. Visitors approach the exhibit and read the operation instructions; 2. Observe the Platonic solid models inside the central cylinder; 3. Assemble the modules on the tabletop to manually reconstruct the regular polyhedra and think about their patterns. ★Exhibit Description: "Platonic Solids" is an interactive exhibit for mathematics and geometry education, designed for the mathematics science exhibition area and recommended by the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The exhibit consists of a hexagonal display stand, a transparent cylinder, and tabletop assembly modules. Through a combination of dynamic display and hands-on assembly, it introduces visitors to the concepts and properties of regular polyhedra. Visitors can directly observe the five Platonic solid models inside the cylinder (regular tetrahedron, cube, regular octahedron, regular dodecahedron, regular icosahedron) and, through the assembly process with tabletop modules, personally understand the structural rules of regular polyhedra and appreciate the beauty of geometric symmetry. ★Scientific Principle: A solid enclosed by several planar polygons in space is called a polyhedron. A solid enclosed by several identical regular polygons, with the same number of edges meeting at each vertex and adjacent faces meeting at equal angles, is called a "regular polyhedron." There are exactly five regular polyhedra, namely the tetrahedron, hexahedron, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron. The ancient Greek philosopher Plato already knew this, so regular polyhedra are also called Platonic solids.
