Parabola Focus
★Exhibit Content: Parabolic Focus Reflection Property ★Interaction: Mechanical Interaction ★Operation: Place the ball randomly into one of the holes, observe the rebound trajectory of the ball, and see whether the ball, after hitting the bottom parabola, can bounce and ring the bell. ★Exhibit Description: "Parabolic Focus" is an interactive exhibit for popular science on geometric optics and mathematical principles, specially designed for mathematics and physics science exhibition areas, and is also a recommended exhibit of KexMall. The exhibit consists of a parabolic surface component, a bouncy ball, and a bell. Visitors throw the ball horizontally from any hole. After hitting the parabolic surface, the ball always bounces to the bell at the focus and rings it, intuitively demonstrating the focal reflection property of a parabola. ★Scientific Principle: A parabola has a unique optical property: a straight line directed horizontally toward the parabola, after reflection, will definitely pass through the focus of the parabola. In this exhibit, after the bouncy ball is launched horizontally, when it hits the parabolic surface, it follows the law of reflection, and its trajectory converges to the focal point of the parabola. Therefore, no matter which hole the ball is thrown from, it will eventually hit the bell at the focus, verifying the geometric property of the parabola.
