Points, Lines, Surfaces and Solids

Mathematics

★Exhibit Content: The spatial transformation relationship between points, lines, surfaces, and solids ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the corresponding buttons for each group in sequence; 2. Observe the visual phenomena of points moving to form lines, lines moving to form surfaces, and surfaces moving to form solids generated by the high-speed rotation of the luminous shapes. ★Exhibit Description: This exhibit is a wall-embedded display, mainly composed of four independent demonstration units, luminous shape modules, stepper motor components, metal operation buttons, and a main control system. It is a recommended exhibit from the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The four units correspond to points, lines, and two different forms of surface luminous components. When visitors press the button, the motor drives the luminous components to rotate coaxially at high speed. Relying on the persistence of vision effect, it intuitively demonstrates the geometric evolution process of points moving to form lines, lines moving to form surfaces, and surfaces moving to form solids, transforming abstract geometric spatial relationships into visual dynamic effects, helping visitors understand the logical relationships between basic geometric elements. ★Scientific Principle: Points, lines, and surfaces are the basic spatial elements of geometry; a point indicates a spatial position, and the trajectory of a moving point forms a line, which has direction and shape; multiple line segments connected or extended in a closed manner within a plane can form a surface, which reflects shape and area; when a planar figure rotates, relying on the persistence of vision of the human eye, it forms a three-dimensional shape, thus completing the progressive transformation from point to line to surface to solid.
