Ribbon Elf (Air Transport)
★Exhibit Content: Bernoulli ★Interaction: Mechanical + Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Place the ribbon into the container, toggle the switch to select a path, press the button to start the fan, and watch the ribbon travel through the pipes. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of an air intake system, metal framework, transparent pipes, and lightweight ribbons. The ribbon can move freely through the pipes under the force of airflow, and the pipes are equipped with multiple channel switches to control airflow direction. The fan blows air into the pipes, creating negative pressure (below atmospheric pressure) at the pipe inlet that automatically draws the ribbon into the pipes. Due to resistance caused by bends in the pipes, the ribbon moves faster or slower within the pipes. Participants change the direction of the rotary wheel to alter the airflow direction, thereby affecting the ribbon's trajectory. Aerodynamic force can move, lift, and release materials. ★Scientific Principle: Daniel Bernoulli proposed the "Bernoulli principle" in 1726, which states that the greater the fluid velocity, the lower the pressure. At the pipe inlet, the space is large, the airflow velocity is low, and the pressure is high; inside the pipe, the space is smaller, the airflow velocity is high, and the pressure is low. Therefore, when a lightweight object is placed at the pipe inlet, it is rapidly drawn in by the airflow and moves forward along the pipe until it exits the pipe and slowly falls.
