Magdeburg Hemispheres
★Exhibit Content: Atmospheric Pressure ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Cover the hemispheres properly, press the "Start" button, and once a vacuum is achieved, try to pull the hemispheres apart. Think about why it takes a lot of force to pull them apart. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a display stand, a vacuum pump, a pressure gauge, and metal Magdeburg hemispheres. Through experiencing the hemisphere experiment, visitors understand the existence of atmospheric pressure. ★Scientific Principle: The Magdeburg hemispheres experiment proves that atmospheric pressure exists and is very powerful. In the experiment, the air inside the two hemispheres is removed, reducing the number of air particles inside. The outside atmospheric pressure then presses the two hemispheres tightly together, making them difficult to separate. The more air is removed, the greater the pressure on the hemispheres, and the harder it is to separate them.
