Bernoulli Suction Cup

Force & Mechanics

★Exhibit Content: Bernoulli's Principle ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Press the "Start" button, try to lift different shaped discs and place them against the air outlet of the suction cup, and observe whether all discs can be sucked up and suspended in the air? ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a fan, air duct, and various test discs. Visitors press the "Start" button, try to lift different shaped discs and place them against the air outlet of the suction cup. After releasing, they will find that some discs are sucked and cannot fall off. ★Scientific Principle: Why do they get sucked up or suspended in the air? We all have this experience: when waiting for a subway or train, we notice a yellow line on the platform, and staff constantly remind us not to cross the yellow line. Why? The reason is that when the train enters the station at high speed, the airflow in front of us increases in velocity, causing a decrease in air pressure, while the normal air pressure behind us pushes us toward the train, creating danger. When the airflow velocity increases, the pressure decreases. This principle in fluid mechanics is the famous Bernoulli's law. Visitors place the suction cup below the air outlet. Without any external force, the suction cup will be lifted and suspended in the air without falling. This utilizes Bernoulli's principle: in a fluid, if the speed is low, the pressure is high; if the speed is high, the pressure is low.
