Centrifugal Phenomenon Combo

Aerospace

★Exhibit Content: Centrifugal Force ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Press the "Start" button and observe the effects produced by the three sets of centrifugal structures. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit interacts with visitors through three sets of centrifugal devices. By comparing the centrifugal phenomena of different substances under the same conditions and the same substance under different conditions, visitors can understand centrifugal phenomena through interaction. The magnitude of centrifugal force is related to mass, rotation speed, and rotation radius. Under the same rotation speed and rotation radius, since water has greater mass than plastic balls, after centrifugal motion occurs, the water is centrifuged to the upper part, and the balls are centrifuged to the bottom; on the other side, the plastic balls are heavier than water, so after centrifugal motion occurs, the balls are centrifuged to the top; the horizontal liquid surface forms a concave surface in the middle and higher on both sides due to the action of centrifugal force; the ball surrounded by steel sheets moves outward due to centrifugal force, causing the ball to be flattened. ★Scientific Principle: Centrifugal force is a manifestation of inertia and does not actually exist. To make an object move in a circular path, the object needs to be subjected to a force directed toward the center—namely, centripetal force. If a coordinate system is established with this object as the origin, it appears as if there is a force of the same magnitude and opposite direction to the centripetal force, causing the object to move away from the center of the circular motion. (When the force on the object is insufficient to provide the centripetal force required for circular motion, it appears as if the centrifugal force is greater than the centripetal force, and the object will move away from the center. This phenomenon is called "centrifugal phenomenon".)
