Cartesian Diver
★Exhibit Content: Pascal's principle, buoyancy law ★Interaction: Pure mechanical interaction ★Operation: Visitors press the pump regulator to change the air pressure inside the water tank, controlling the sinking and floating state of the Cartesian diver, and intuitively observe the effect of pressure changes on object buoyancy. ★Exhibit Description: "Cartesian Diver" is a classic fluid mechanics interactive exhibit based on Pascal's principle and the law of buoyancy, designed for basic physics and fluid mechanics exhibition areas. It consists of a transparent sealed water tank, an adjustable Cartesian diver, a manual pump regulator, and a safety protective cover, transforming abstract physical principles into a fun experiment that can be operated by hand, suitable for visitors of all ages to explore the basic laws of fluid mechanics. ★Scientific Principle: When the Cartesian diver is submerged in liquid, the volume of liquid it displaces remains constant, so the buoyant force it experiences remains unchanged. When the pump is pressed, the air pressure inside the water tank increases. According to Pascal's principle, the pressure is transmitted to the liquid, causing the air column inside the Cartesian diver to compress and decrease in volume. The volume of displaced liquid decreases accordingly, and the buoyant force becomes less than gravity, causing the diver to sink. When the pump is released, the pressure decreases, the air column expands, and the volume increases. The buoyant force becomes greater than gravity, causing the diver to rise.
