Who Blows Higher

Force & Mechanics

★Exhibit Content: Bernoulli's principle, fluid mechanics ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the button; 2. Observe the height of the floating ball in the vertical tube. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a transparent vertical tube, a floating ball, a fan system, and an operation button. Visitors press the button to start the fan and observe the height to which the floating ball rises in the tube under the airflow, intuitively experiencing the relationship between flow velocity and air pressure. This exhibit can be set up with multiple parallel competition units, supporting two or more people to compete in blowing height at the same time, increasing interactive fun and allowing participants to understand the basic physics concept of Bernoulli's principle through play. ★Scientific Principle: According to Bernoulli's principle, when fluid flows in a horizontal pipe, pressure is lower where flow velocity is higher, and pressure is higher where flow velocity is lower. The fan blows air into the horizontal pipe, which has several small holes on top, with plastic balls placed on the holes. From Bernoulli's principle, it follows that different flow velocities in the horizontal pipe result in different rising heights of the balls on the small holes at the top of the vertical tubes.
