Lever the Earth

Children's Playground

★Exhibit Content: Lever Principle ★Interaction: Mechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Participants stand at one end of the lever; 2. Apply force by pulling ropes at different positions and observe whether the "Earth" model is pried; 3. Increase the number of visitors inside the Earth on the opposite side to experience the change in force. ★Exhibit Description: The main body of the exhibit mainly includes: lever device, rope force application device, Earth model, support structure, instruction sign, and graphic slogans. Inspired by Archimedes' famous quote "Give me a fulcrum, and I shall move the Earth," the exhibit features a giant lever device up to 5 m long, an Earth model, and multiple force application points, allowing participants to personally try to pry the heavy "Earth" with a smaller force. ★Scientific Principle: The lever principle is an important principle of basic mechanics, with the formula: effort × effort arm = load × load arm. When the load and load arm are constant, the longer the effort arm, the smaller the effort required. By setting force application points at different positions, this exhibit allows visitors to experience the effect of changing the effort arm on labor-saving performance, verify the application of the lever principle, intuitively feel the working mechanism of a "labor-saving lever," and understand the mechanical logic behind Archimedes' famous lever quote.
