Light Ray Game
Operation: 1. Press the "Start" button, and a laser beam will be emitted from the starting point below; 2. Turn the knobs to rotate the optical elements; 3. Adjust the rotation angle of the optical elements so that the laser reaches the endpoint at the top and lights up the colored lights. Function Overview: The exhibit consists of a light source, four sets of reflective elements, a photosensitive receiver, and a sound and light effect demonstration device. All four reflective elements can be rotated to change the direction of light transmission. Visitors try to combine them to direct the light into the sensor located directly above, thereby activating the sound and light effect demonstration. Scientific Principle: How does the laser change direction to reach the endpoint? In fact, these four rotatable optical elements are all plane mirrors or curved mirrors. When the laser emitted from the starting point hits a plane mirror or curved mirror, it reflects and changes its propagation direction. By changing the angle of the plane mirror or curved mirror, the direction of light reflection also changes. Therefore, if these plane mirrors or curved mirrors are adjusted to the appropriate angles, the laser traveling in a straight line can undergo multiple reflections, reach the endpoint, and light up the colored lights. You can try to see the minimum number of optical elements you need to rotate to light up the colored lights. The principle of specular reflection of light is applied in devices such as microscopes, projectors, and periscopes.
