Magnet and Coil
Operation: Press the "Start" button, turn the handwheel to adjust the angle of the coil, and observe the change in brightness of the light bulb. Function Overview: The exhibit consists of a magnet, coil, LED light, start button, and operating handwheel. Press the button and the magnet starts rotating. Turn the handwheel to adjust the angle of the coil, and you will find that the brightness of the light bulb changes with the coil angle. Scientific Principle: What is the reason for this? In a closed circuit, when a conductor cuts magnetic lines of force in a magnetic field, an electric current is generated in the conductor; this is electromagnetic induction. When the "U"-shaped magnet rotates, the magnetic lines of force in the magnetic field also rotate. Adjust the angle of the coil so that the magnetic lines of force form a certain angle with the plane of the coil; the coil cuts the magnetic lines of force, generating an induced current, and the light bulb lights up. When the magnetic lines of force are parallel to the plane of the coil, the coil does not cut the magnetic lines of force, so no induced current is generated, and the light bulb goes out. Electromagnetic induction is widely used in electrical engineering, electronic technology, electrification, and automation. For example, tape recorders and automobile tachometers are all made using the principle of electromagnetic induction.
