Maglev Globe
Operation: Gently place the globe directly above the base with your hand, slowly move it to find the balance point. When you feel a force attracting the globe, slowly release your hand, gently rotate the globe, and observe the magnetic levitation phenomenon. Function Overview: The exhibit consists of a sphere and a base. It demonstrates the principle of magnetic levitation through a magnetic levitation globe. Scientific Principle: The magnetic levitation globe uses the magnetic effect of current to make the globe float in mid-air. There is a magnet at the bottom of the globe, and a metal coil at the top inside the ring-shaped plastic base. When current passes through the metal coil, it becomes an electromagnet. The repulsive force between the electromagnet and the magnet at the bottom of the globe can offset the gravity acting on the globe, so the globe can float in mid-air. If you gently touch the globe to displace it from the equilibrium position, after removing your hand, the globe can still return to the equilibrium position without falling, which utilizes a negative feedback mechanism.
