Coupled Pendulum
Operation: 1. Push the right handle to start the pendulum swinging; 2. Pull the left handle upward to connect the two coils; 3. Observe the swinging of the two pendulums. Visitors push the trigger device to set one pendulum swinging, and gradually they will notice that the other pendulum also begins to swing at the same frequency. Visitors can use the toggle switch to connect or disconnect the coil circuit for comparative operation. Functional Overview: The exhibit consists of two coils connected in series, two pendulums with magnets, a swing trigger device, an on/off switch, a protective cover, etc. Visitors push the trigger device to set one pendulum swinging, and gradually they will notice that the other pendulum also begins to swing at the same frequency. Visitors can use the toggle switch to connect or disconnect the coil circuit for comparative operation. Scientific Principle: When pendulum 1 swings, the magnet in coil 1 moves with it, causing coil 1 to generate an induced current. This current causes coil 2 to generate a magnetic force, driving pendulum 2 to swing; when pendulum 2 swings, the magnet in coil 2 moves with it, causing coil 2 to generate an induced current. This current causes coil 1 to generate a magnetic force, and so on back and forth.
