Automobile Steering Gear
Operation: Turn the steering wheel left and right to observe changes in the wheel steering state. Function Overview: The exhibit consists of an operating device and an automobile steering gear demonstration mechanism. Visitors can turn the steering wheel left and right to observe the process of wheel steering changes. Scientific Principle: How does the steering wheel drive the wheels to steer? There are many types of automobile steering mechanisms. This structure demonstrates a worm and crank pin steering mechanism, which uses a worm as the driving component and a crank pin as the driven component. The worm has a trapezoidal thread, and the finger-shaped conical pin is supported on the crank by bearings; the crank and the steering rocker shaft are made as one piece. During steering, the steering wheel turns the worm, and the conical pin embedded in the worm's helical groove rotates on its own axis while making an arc motion around the steering rocker shaft, thereby driving the crank and steering drop arm to swing, and then through the steering transmission mechanism, the steering wheels are deflected. This type of steering gear is commonly used in trucks with greater steering force.
