Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Refractive principles of myopia/hyperopia, principles of eyeglass prescription, vision testing ★Interaction: Mechanical interaction ★Operation: Visitors stand at the designated standing position marker, rotate the left and right lens dials respectively, select different diopter myopia/hyperopia lenses, look through the lenses to identify the standard eye chart on the opposite wall, find the lens diopter that allows clear vision of the eye chart, simulate the process of prescribing glasses for themselves, and intuitively experience the corrective effect of different diopter lenses on vision. ★Exhibit Description: This exhibit is a floor-standing mechanical interactive science popularization exhibit, composed of dual lens dials, base body, eye chart display system, etc. It is a recommended exhibit by PopsciCat Exhibit Store, divided into two experience modules: myopia glasses and hyperopia glasses. The exhibit simulates a real eyeglass prescription scenario. Visitors rotate the dials to switch lenses of different diopters, observe changes in eye chart clarity, intuitively feel the corrective effect of lenses under different refractive states, understand the causes of myopia and hyperopia and the principles of eyeglass prescription, learn scientific eye care knowledge, and establish a scientific understanding of eye health. ★Scientific Principle: Myopia refers to a condition where, under relaxed accommodation, parallel light rays after refraction by the eye's refractive system focus in front of the retina. Concave lenses (myopia lenses) are needed to diverge light rays, moving the focus back onto the retina, thereby correcting vision. Hyperopia refers to a refractive state where parallel light beams after refraction by a relaxed eye focus behind the retina. Hyperopia occurs when the eye's refractive power is insufficient or the axial length is too short. Convex lenses (hyperopia lenses) are needed to converge light rays, moving the focus forward onto the retina, achieving vision correction. The exhibit uses lenses of different diopters to intuitively demonstrate the optical principles of light refraction and vision correction, helping visitors understand the scientific essence of refractive errors and eyeglass prescription.
