Path of Light
★Exhibit Content: Popular science on light reflection and refraction, characteristics of optical elements, and light propagation paths ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: Press the start button to turn on the laser source, rotate the handwheel to align the laser with the selected optical element; adjust the angle of the laser source, observe the path changes of the light through the optical element, and intuitively understand the effect of different optical elements on light. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of at least 6 types of optical elements including concave-convex lenses, concave-convex mirrors, right-angle prisms, wedge prisms, pentaprisms, and parallel glass bricks, a laser source, and an operating handwheel. It is a recommended exhibit for the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. After pressing the switch button, participants start the exhibit to light up the laser source, rotate the handwheel to switch between different optical elements, adjust the laser angle, and observe the path changes such as divergence, convergence, reflection, refraction, and translation of light after passing through the elements, thereby understanding the characteristics of optical elements and learning basic optics knowledge. ★Scientific Principle: Light travels in a straight line in the same uniform medium. However, when light travels from one medium to another, refraction or reflection occurs at the interface between the two media. This exhibit uses different optical elements to demonstrate changes such as divergence, convergence, reflection, refraction, and translation of light, intuitively presenting the influence of optical elements on light propagation paths and helping visitors understand optical principles such as reflection and refraction of light.
