Water-Sphere Imaging

Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Concave Lens Imaging ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: Press the button, the left light source will emit an upright "F" pattern, move the white screen to make the white screen present a clear image, and observe the difference between the image on the white screen and the real object. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit uses a water ball to simulate the basic principle of human eye imaging, showing the basic structure of the human eye, and is recommended for the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. The water ball simulates an eye lens. On one side of the water ball, there is an "F" shaped light. After the light passes through the water ball lens, an inverted image is formed on the image screen on the other side. The image screen can be pushed and pulled back and forth. When the image screen reaches the focal point of the water ball lens, a clear image can be obtained. ★Scientific Principle: By moving the light source or the imaging plate, the image on the light source is projected onto the imaging plate through the water ball, and the change in image size caused by the change in distance is observed. The water ball lens is a "convex lens", like the lens of a camera, and the image on the film is "inverted". In fact, the image of the external world on our eyes' "retina" is also "inverted", but the optic nerve perceives it as upright.
