Pinhole Imaging

Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Science popularization of the straight-line propagation of light, the principle of pinhole imaging, and the optical principle of early cameras ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: Press the button to start the LED light source, fix the positions of the light source and convex lens, move the pinhole baffle and imaging screen, and observe the phenomenon of the inverted image on the screen changing with distance and aperture size, intuitively understanding the law of straight-line propagation of light. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of an LED arrow light source, a convex lens, a three-position interchangeable pinhole baffle (3mm/5mm/8mm), a movable imaging screen, an electronic control system, and a display stand. It is a recommended exhibit for the KexMall exhibit mall. Visitors can change the distance between the pinhole and the screen, switch between different aperture baffles, observe changes in image clarity, brightness, and size, personally explore the optical characteristics of pinhole imaging, deeply understand the law of straight-line propagation of light, and intuitively recognize the optical principle of early camera obscuras. ★Scientific Principle: Pinhole imaging is based on the straight-line propagation of light: When light passes through a small hole, light from different parts of the object converges on the screen, forming an inverted real image; The smaller the aperture, the clearer the image, but less light enters, reducing image brightness; The size of the image is related to the object distance and image distance, satisfying the formula: image height/object height = image distance/object distance; This principle is the basis of early camera obscuras and laid the theoretical foundation for modern lens imaging technology.
