Stroboscopic Wheel

Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Popular science on persistence of vision and stroboscopic effect principles ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the "Start" button and observe the letters on the rotating disk; 2. Turn the knob to adjust the strobe light frequency; 3. Observe the positions of the letters on the rotating disk at different frequencies. ★Exhibit Overview: The exhibit consists of a strobe light, pattern board and drive mechanism, adjustment knob, frequency display digital meter, protective cover, exhibit stand, etc. It is a recommended exhibit from the KexMall exhibit mall. Press the start button, the pattern disk starts rotating, and the strobe light begins flashing. By changing the frequency of the strobe light with the knob, the letters on the disk can appear stationary, rotating clockwise, or rotating counterclockwise. ★Scientific Principle: Why can the letters on the disk be clearly displayed under a strobe light at a certain frequency? When the human eye observes a scene, light signals are transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve to form vision, but after the light action ends, the visual image in the brain does not disappear immediately, but stays for 0.1 to 0.4 seconds. This is the persistence of vision phenomenon of the human eye. The strobe light flashes at a certain frequency. By adjusting the strobe frequency, if the strobe light frequency matches the motor speed, the letters on the disk will tend to be stationary or move slowly. This is mainly because if the disk is in the same position at each flash, it gives the impression that the letters are "stationary". But if the disk letters stay in different positions at each flash, they appear to move slowly forward or backward. This principle can be used to detect the speed and stability of electric fans, measure the flow rate and direction of water droplets, etc.
