Myopia-Hyperopia Demonstrator
★Exhibit Content: Science popularization of the causes, imaging principles, and correction principles of myopia/hyperopia ★Interaction: Electromechanical interactive demonstration ★Operation: 1. Demonstrate normal eye imaging: Turn on all three light sources of the laser box and adjust the light to a parallel state. Take out the lens corresponding to normal vision from the parallel lens set. We observe that the light just focuses on the retina, and the image is formed on the retina, indicating a normal eye. 2. Myopia imaging and correction: Take out the lens corresponding to myopia simulation and replace the normal vision lens. It is found that the light converges prematurely and the retina cannot receive a clear image. Take out the lens corresponding to myopia correction, and the light converges at the retina position again. The image is formed on the retina, and myopia is corrected. 3. Demonstrate hyperopia imaging and correction: Replace the myopia simulation lens with the hyperopia simulation lens. Take out the lens corresponding to hyperopia correction, and the light converges at the retina position again. The image is formed on the retina, and hyperopia is corrected. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a main structure of carbon steel + acrylic sheet, a laser emitter, multiple sets of replaceable lenses (normal/myopia/hyperopia simulation and correction lenses), a UV-printed cold-rolled steel panel, and an eye structure diagram. It is a recommended exhibit by KexMall. By simulating the propagation path of light in an eye model with lasers, it intuitively demonstrates the imaging principle of the human eye lens (convex lens), as well as the causes and correction methods of myopia and hyperopia, transforming abstract ophthalmology knowledge into a visual interactive experiment, suitable for eye health science museums and vision science popularization scenarios. ★Scientific Principle: Through experiments, we found that the lens of the human eye is equivalent to a convex lens. Myopia has a stronger ability to converge light, causing the image to form in front of the retina. In this case, a suitable concave lens, i.e., myopia glasses, can be used for correction. Similarly, hyperopia has a weaker ability to converge light, causing the image to form behind the retina, and a convex lens, i.e., hyperopia glasses, is needed for improvement.
