Apparent Motion Perception
★Exhibit Content: Popular science on the principle of apparent motion perception (Phi motion/Beta motion) ★Interaction: Electromechanical interactive experience ★Operation: (1) Press the "Start" button, and the LED beads light up; (2) Rotate the knob to adjust the interval between the lighting of the two LED beads, and experience different visual perceptions. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a main frame, high-brightness LED beads (with precisely controllable spacing), a stainless steel start button + rotary adjustment knob, an LED digital display (real-time display of interval time), and a PLC controller with protection. By precisely controlling the lighting time difference between two stationary LED beads, visitors can personally adjust the interval parameters and intuitively experience the mechanism of apparent motion perception. Recommended exhibit for the KexMall exhibit mall. ★Scientific Principle: This exhibit demonstrates the classic apparent motion perception (Phi motion/Beta motion). The core principle originates from the temporal integration and motion completion mechanism of human vision: when two spatially separated, actually stationary LED beads light up sequentially at different time intervals, the brain integrates and processes the visual information differently based on the length of the interval, producing completely different motion perceptions. The exhibit uses two LED beads, one on the left and one on the right, separated by a certain distance. These two beads appear successively in the following four situations, resulting in four visual perceptions: (1) When the interval between the appearance of the two beads is shorter than 30 milliseconds, people see the two beads appear simultaneously, and the beads do not move; (2) When the interval is approximately 30-60 milliseconds, part of the beads appears to move; (3) When the interval is longer than 60 milliseconds, an illusion of the bead moving from left to right is produced; (4) When the interval is longer than 200-300 milliseconds, the two beads appear successively, and there is no sensation of movement.
