Aerial Imaging

Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Persistence of Vision ★Interaction: Electromechanical Interaction ★Operation: 1. Press the "Start" button; 2. Observe the rotating fan blades. ★Exhibit Description: The exhibit consists of a swing rod, LED lights, a motor, etc., and is a recommended exhibit for the PopsciCat Exhibit Store. Visitors press the "Start" button and observe the image changes during the rotation of the swing rod. ★Scientific Principle: Why does an image appear on the rotating plane of the fan blades? When the human eye observes a scene, light signals are transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve to form vision, but after the light effect ends, the visual image in the brain does not disappear immediately, but stays for 0.1 to 0.4 seconds. This is the persistence of vision phenomenon of the human eye. There is an LED light group on the fan blades. When rotating, the circuit controls the LED lights to emit light according to program instructions. The light emitted at each position on the rotating plane is part of a complete image. Due to the persistence of vision effect, the image of the luminous point will be retained in the brain for a short period of time. Therefore, the image of the luminous point at each position on the rotating plane of the fan blades will be retained by the brain. These retained images of the luminous points are superimposed with the luminous points currently being seen, and a complete image is seen in the air.
