Dichroic Mirror

Optics & Eye Health

★Exhibit Content: Popular science experience of light reflection, refraction, and color mixing principles ★Interaction: Electromechanical interaction + optical demonstration ★Operation: 1. Visitors press the automatic or manual button on the exhibit stand; 2. Observe the beautiful light bands formed by the dichroic mirror at different angles. ★Exhibit Description: "Dichroic Mirror" is an interactive exhibit for popular science of optical principles, designed specifically for the physical science exhibition area, and is also a recommended exhibit of KexMall. The exhibit mainly consists of a motor, slider mechanism, dichroic mirror, light source, and buttons. In the center of the circular image display area, two rotatable dichroic mirrors are installed; the two dichroic mirrors allow different wavelength bands of light to pass through; the motor and slider mechanism can drive the two mirrors to open and close, and a spotlight is installed below the mirrors. The tabletop is equipped with automatic and manual buttons. Visitors press the buttons respectively to start the light source, and the two mirrors change angles differently. Under the action of reflection and refraction, the dichroic mirror projects colorful colors. ★Scientific Principle: The core principle of the dichroic mirror is the selective reflection and transmission of optical coatings. Optical coatings with different refractive indices are coated on the glass sheet. The interfaces between layers with different refractive indices produce phase reflection, selectively enhancing certain wavelengths of light and interfering with others. By controlling the thickness and number of layers, light of a certain frequency range can be allowed to pass through the optical coating, while light of other wavelength ranges is reflected. With the change of light source and mirror angle, light of different wavelength bands is reflected, refracted, and mixed to form colorful light bands, intuitively presenting the principles of light reflection, refraction, and color mixing.
