Generator Principle
Operation: Turn the handwheel to observe the power generation process. Function Overview: This exhibit consists of a disassembled generator, a belt drive mechanism, and LED lights. Visitors turn the rotary handle to drive the generator rotor, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy to light up a small bulb. This exhibit demonstrates the working principle of a generator. Scientific Principle: Electromagnetic induction refers to the generation of an electromotive force in a conductor placed in a changing magnetic flux. Faraday discovered that the electromotive force induced in a closed circuit is proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux through any surface bounded by that path. This means that when the magnetic flux through a surface bounded by a conductor changes, an electric current will flow in any closed conductor. This applies when the magnetic field itself changes or when the conductor moves within the magnetic field. Electromagnetic induction is the basis for the operation of generators, induction motors, transformers, and most other electrical equipment.
