Marx Generator
Operation: Press the start button to observe the discharge phenomenon of the Marx generator. Exhibit Overview: The exhibit consists of a Marx generator, start button, power supply, and electronic control device. Visitors can press the start button to watch the Marx generator's discharge performance. Scientific Principle: The Marx Generator is a high-voltage device that generates high-voltage pulses from a low-voltage DC power supply by charging capacitors in parallel and discharging them in series. This structure was proposed by Erwin Otto Marx in 1924. It can simulate processes such as lightning and switching overvoltages. Therefore, it is often used in high-energy physics experiments such as insulation impulse withstand voltage tests and dielectric impulse breakdown and discharge tests.
